Here is something I found out though,. I believe ports on the back of the computer Feed Directly from the Motherboard and are High Speed, Unlike Ports on the front,.ALso I didn't use the software that came with this, I downloaded the latest version from the skype Site.
So if you use or are going to use Skype, I recommend this product,. it has a call test that will show you how it's working,.
Hello folks,. when I pluged it back into the REAR high speed Hub, it worked just great,.
the only thing Im not sure of yet is how to keep my external speakers on, seems I have to Unplug this unit to do that, or my sound wants to go through the speakerphone.but as for calls it works great. wow this product has gotten Very Postive and very negative reviews, well, I was very sceptical after reading the negative ones, but I have some tips for you, Yes I got my Speakerphone and it works Great.
Just Like a Webcam it needs a HIGH SPEED USB Port, I pluged this into my Standard Port < front of computer with Standard Hub > and it really sounded Funky,.
I'm now picking two more up for family. Sound is clear and microphone works fine. Picked one of these up a few months ago and it has worked great. I'm using it for Skype on an HP desktop running Vista and have it plugged into a Belkin USB hub.
I was somewhat reluctant to buy this item after reading the reviews; however, I purchased this and was very pleasantly surprised that it works extremely well with the latest Skype 3.6.0.248.I had NONE of the problems/concerns mentioned in other reviews - perhaps the newest Skype software has worked all the bugs/issues out, allowing the USRobotics speakerphone to work flawlessly. What a great product at a very reasonable price.
As other reviewers have noted, the speaker on it isn't too bad but the microphone is completely unusable and this setup is worse than just using the built-in microphone on my laptop. This was on sale really cheap so I decided to get it because it looked neat and I figured it couldn't be that bad.
It is distorted and too quiet. No wonder the MSRP is $50 and everyone (Circuit City, Amazon,.). I bought this from Circuit City today and it's going back tomorrow. When you turn up the level on the computer, you get an echo. is trying to get rid of them for $20. The speaker quality is fair (not good, but not too bad), however the whole unit vibrates and jumps off the desk when you turn it up loud enough to not be right next to it (i.e., use it as a speakerphone). The microphone is TERRIBLE and unusable.
